-Letitia TERHUNE (1831-1876) Married 28 Mar 1858 in Tennycape, William S. CHURCH (1830-1912). Family

Matilda may not be Michael's daughter. Still undecided in my view. "Matilda" christian name is not on either side of the Terhune-Vance families.--

-Matilda Terhune. (b. 2 Feb 1832- d. Jan 1,1912) marr 15 Mar 1858, (date from Ancestory.com, no ref?) Benjamin BROWN (b Feb 16,1831 Walton. d.19 Mar.1918 Tennecape) son of John and Elizabeth Coburn Brown. Benjamin and his 3 siblings (he had at least 5 siblings); Catherine, John, and Sarah lived on four properties in Tenneycape which were beside each other. Perhaps their father had divided his own holding in that manner. Benjamin & Matilda BROWN Children: Susan (b.1862-), Mary Elizabeth (b. 1869), Charles B (b. 1864-)., Arthur Benjamin (b.1866)., Harry S (b.1867-)., Edward Fulton (1870) Fulton was Elizabeth Vance's mother's surname., Jessie Morris (b.June 19 1873) marr. Robert Fenwick Terhune., David Johnson (b. 1875-d. 1939)., Emma F (b. 1876-)(marr. David A. Terhune). Lillie May/Matilda (b. 1880 Tennecape - d. 1926, Kaslo, BC). George W (b.1855-) has been listed as a son but he was born 3 years before Matilda was married. I have made Matilda Michael Terhune's daughter based upon Margaret Church's letter. I have seen other research that Matilda is Daniel Terhune's daughter but I have not seem any concrete evidence for this link. Matilda may not have been a Terhune daughter at all. When daughter Mary Elizabeth died, her death certificate (Mar 9, 1952) (ref 29) shows her father to be Benjamine Brown and her mother's maiden name was Matilda MARSHALL So, she may have married a Terhune son before Benjamin.

David V. TERHUNE. (30) (bc 1830/34) 1880 Census Chatham, Barnstable, MA. David V. Terhune age 46 <1834> Master Mariner, son-in law, born Nova Scotia, parents born NJ, living with David Hammond (b. 1821) wife Harriet N. (Eldridge) Hammond age 57 and dau Harriet Adelaide Terhune (b. 26 Jan 1848-d. 8 Oct 1880 Chatham Mass) age 32. Married 14 Jun 1868 at Chatham MA. Harriet A. Hammond age19. David V. Trehune (sic) age 38 <1830> born Truro, Nova Scotia, mariner, parents David and Elizabeth Trehune (sic) (Hint, search for "Frehuns" ancestry.com). His parents would have to be bc 1800-1810. I have no reference to a David Terhune in Nova Scotia at this time. Is this a mistake and the parents should have been Michael & Elizabeth? "David" was his mother's grandfather/brother and V. could be Vance so he would be David Vance Terhune named after his maternal great-grandfather or, his mother's brother..

Married (2) 1837 (30)Rebecca Morrison Reid (b. 1799) of Colchester Co. N.S. Family

Jamie McLellan has informed me that Rebecca, daughter of Thomas MORRISON (b. 3 Nov. 1769 in Windsor, NS d. 19 Oct 1859 in Debert NS) and Mary O'BRIAN (b. 1770 Londonderry, Ireland, d. 30 Sept 1864), marr. 1st Robert McEllhiney REID (formerly REED) (b. 25 July 1804 d. 2 Aug 1835) Rebecca & Robert bur. Ref (2). has the following: James M. REID and his wife settled at Moose Brook, Hants Co. N.S. in 1830 after he had been laid off in the iron mines at Londonderry, N.S. He died in 1835 leaving a widow and two sons named Thomas Morrison REID (b. 6 Oct 1831) and John William REID (b. 18 May 1833). Mrs James M. REID married (2) in 1837 Michael Trehune (sic) and they lived on the farm until 1854 when Thomas REID returned from New York City with his bride Margaret KNOW of Ireland. Margaret d. 1875.
